The Operator plugin is a perfect tool to interact with web pages that have microformats inside.

We at Nirudia do use two microformats for now: Tag an Geo (this one works fine to indicate a geographical point).

With this plugin you will be able to view in Nirudia a point from any site which uses Geo Microformat, or even to upload a photo from there to Nirudia.

Tony Farndon (Tapagh leibh, thank very much in Scottish Gaelic), has done the script for Tagzania, and we have adapted it for Nrudia, with Tony's permission.

To see how it works we will use one Tagzania page that does use Geo Microformat, www.tagzania.com/item/192: in the Operator plugin toolbar we go to the "world" and it will show us every microformatted points in that page; we next select the one we want and by clicking Nirudia Nearby it will show us all the pages from that place in Nirudia (in this case it is Ometepe Island), and if we activate "Nirudia Post to", we will be able to upload a picture from this point to our photolog in Nirudia.

In the same way and if you are surfing on any Nirudia page you can see the localization in other sites as Google Maps or Yahoo! Maps.

As you see, it is a a very interesting application for Nirudia.

In order to install this script you must have Firefox 2 and the version #8 of the Operator Plugin. In addition, you will have to install the nirudia_userscript_8_version.js.zip User Script.

To install this last one, you have to unzip that file, go to Operator Plugin Options, click in "User Scripts" tab and add the little file. Once this is done, you will have to restart Firefox.

You can see some services that utilise Geo Microformat.

In Nirudia you can choose the license to publish your photos under.

There are three licenses to choose:

1. Free: Creative Commons BY - SA (Attribution - Share Alike): any one may use your photos but only recognizing that you are the photos author and publishing them under the same license.
2. Free with conditions: Creative Commons BY - NC - ND (Attribution - Noncommercial - No Derivative Works): As for the former one, but without permission to do any commercial use of your photos.
3. Copyright: The photo reproduction is not allowed without its author permission.

Now, the way you want to share your photos is up to you...

We've got the first widget for Nirudia.

With this new widget you will be able to put your last Nirudia photos in your+ blog's side bar, like with Flickr or Feevy.

The code you must paste in your blog is in your blog's administration panel, and in order to copy it you must go to the upper side "Nirudia in my blog" tab.

Our logo wants to recall the concepts behind Nirudia.

On the one hand, it represents the Google Maps drawing pin, which has become the symbol of the tracking down of a place on a map, but in the other, its lower side has been modified as if it was part of a photography.

The various layers indicate the amount of pictures in that point on the map.

With this post we start a series of posts showing you some features that enrich the experience of using Nirudia.

Now, you can include the photologs maps in your blog or web. How?

To do it, you just have to copy the code below the map and paste it to your site.

For now just the photolog most recent photos map can be included, as well as the photolog places labeled with a certain tag (for instance, railway station.)

The August 25th, 2007, Nireblog's younger brother, Nirudia.com, was born. And past November 1st Nirudia.com/en is born: the English version of Nirudia.

What is Nirudia? Nirudia is a site to create your blog out of photos and maps.

It is a site to upload the photos from places that you like and to share them with other people, to locate them on the map and to tag them.

As well as each blog has its own address and its own customizable design, there are common pages where everyone's photos do appear, on the map, or, too, there are pages with the photos with a certain tag. This because we care on the value of community.

The maximum number of photos that can be uploaded is 5, though it can go up if you ask for it. There is no need to reduce the photos because we admit photos of as much as 5 MB.

So far, there are versions in Euskara, Spanish, Asturianu, Català, Occitan and Portuguese.
